Hastings on Hudson
The Village of Hastings on Hudson is the closest to New York City of the Hudson River villages. With a population of 9187 (2000 census) and a land area of 3.6 square miles, the village maintains a small town feeling while enjoying a 32 minute express commute to Grand Central via MetroNorth.
Hastings is sometimes referred to as the “SoHo of Westchester” for the many artists who live in the village and the support of the community for artistic endeavors. In addition to artists, there are many musicians and authors living in the village who add to its cultural life. There are many concerts given in Hastings by a variety of local musicians as well as the Westchester Philharmonic.

One of my personal favorite things about Hastings is the gorgeous gardens outside Harvest on Hudson. The restaurant is located on the river in a Tuscan style building with fresh herbs and vegetables surrounding many outdoor tables, which fill quickly on beautiful summer evenings.
The Hastings Hillside Park includes over 60 acres of parkland with trails, Sugar Pond and tennis courts. The village pool is located next to the park for a wonderful retreat on a hot summer day.
Farmer’s Market-Find organic produce and support local farmers
The Hastings Farmers market has the best variety of the village farmer’s markets. I have found fresh vegetables, cheese and pies from Putnam and Dutchess County farms and some of the best greens anywhere at this market.
